ORCHARD SCHOOL GRADUATION 2010

Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino addressed the graduates of Andrus Children’s Center’s award winning Orchard School, June 18.  Astorino, (shown here with (left to right) Eastchester resident and member of Board of Directors, Rick Schramm; Westchester day students Kimberly and Anthony; and CEO and President Nancy Woodruff Ment, wished the 8th graders well in their future endeavors and encouraged them to dream big and most of all urged them to "try something new".

Randall Smith, right, Director of Residential Services at Andrus, congratulates Bourne/Benedict Halls Guerschom Joseph, Senior Program Manager, on being named one of the 2009 Best Practice Award for Program Managers’ recipients from COFCCA – the New York State’s Council of Family & Child Care Agencies.  In his bashful remarks at the August 13th campus party honoring him, Guersch shared his ‘secret’ of superior care for children:  “I work here as if my own son or daughter lived here.  That’s how I think we should care for the children at Andrus.”

Campus colleagues gathered to celebrate Guersch’s honor and the agency’s commitment to superior care, healing and hope for ‘our kids.’

76 golfers and additional friends at dinner helped raise more than $70,000 in this year’s outing!

Our friends from St. John’s Riverside Hospital enjoyed their day and the evening’s festivities.

COO Brian Farragher passionately shared the story of the vulnerable children for whom Andrus cares and just how vital our services are for Westchester families.

By the end of a long day of golf on Wyckagyl’s challenging course, our friends were tired and satisfied.

Third A CLEAN SCENE a big hit with volunteers and Andrus kids!

Tailpipe – a pre-teen “boy band” from Connecticut had the crowd rocking during lunch!

Hot dogs with all the fixin’s refreshed the volunteers and campus family.

The landscaping around each building and in gardens were all raked, weeded and cleaned out.

Each campus cottage and Dyckman Hall received bright new flowers planted by willing volunteers of all ages.

How many mountains of mulch can one campus manage?  LOTS!

Friday night, November 7, 2008 at the Abigail Kirsch Ballroom at New York Botanical Gardens - a grand dinner and dancing, party games and birthday cake! Jewelry raffle and a live auction of wonderful vacation packages!
