The Children’s Center for Learning Head Start is a comprehensive early childhood educational program serving homeless and Head Start children and families in the White Plains area. The school offers both half-day (9:00-12:30) and full-day (9:00-3:30) programs for eligible children.

With the support of the Westchester Community Opportunity Program (WestCOP), we've collaborated with The Children’s Center for Learning Head Start to incorporate our clinicians into the classrooms to provide on-site mental health services. These clinicians provide a range of formal and informal support and clinical services to the children, families and staff in the program. These services include: staff consultation, teacher support groups, crisis intervention and direct clinical services (such as individual, family, milieu and group therapy) to eligible families and children. In addition, a therapeutic nursery staffed by two Head Start teachers and two clinicians provides more intensive treatment for children with severe emotional and behavioral difficulties.

These services were recently expanded through the support of a Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant. The purpose of the grant is to help families obtain and secure permanent housing by assisting them in reducing family stress and improving family functioning.
